Their mission is to uplift & inspire communities all over the world.  The duo began by using their talent to raise awareness of social issues in their own backyards, 5th Ward- in Houston.  They've released songs on important topics with undertones that focus on love but highlight social issues as an undercurrent to growth.

Beyond music, Rick & Bishop have grown as educators, advocates, while growing as musicians.  In their work they have been bestowed such honors as a House of Blues Residency, "Blaze X Black" Day in Houston, Performances at Superbowl 51, Writing for Essentia Water. BlazeXBlack is looking forward to their next community effort to launch summer of 2023. They truly embody the adage "service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
